Eden Glen house fire claims father and 4-year-old son: A father in his 50s and his four-year-old son died in a fire that destroyed part of a double-storey house in Eden Glen, Edenvale, early Saturday morning. Firefighters were called to the property in Collins Street at about 3:35am, where the upper section of the house was fully engulfed in flames and the roof had collapsed. Four bedrooms, a walk-in closet and an ablution facility were destroyed. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the house. The bodies of the father and child were found in one room after the fire was extinguished. A nine-year-old daughter escaped unharmed and was taken away from the scene by neighbours. The cause of the fire is under investigation by police forensic officers and DEMS fire safety officials. Collins Street was temporarily closed during firefighting operations.
