⚠️🚱 *WATER SUPPLY WARNING* 13 September 2026 | 16h35 - Cllr Devon Steenkamp It has now been confirmed that Rand Water's Zuikerbosch Water Treatment and Pumping Station is without electricity. Zuikerbosch is a critical part of Rand Water's bulk water network, and an interruption to pumping has the potential to affect several major supply systems, including: ▪️Eikenhof System — western and north-western Johannesburg, the West Rand and supply towards Rustenburg. ▪️Palmiet System, northern and eastern Johannesburg, parts of Tshwane and western Ekurhuleni. ▪️Zwartkopjes System, central Johannesburg and parts of the East Rand. ▪️Mapleton System, also potentially affected. For our communities, the Eikenhof system is of particular concern. Some areas receiving direct Rand Water supply are already reporting no water. If reduced bulk supply continues, Joburg Water reservoir levels will begin to be affected, potentially resulting in wider water outages tonight and tomorrow. At the time of this update, Rand Water and Joburg Water have not yet issued public communication confirming the full extent or expected duration of the interruption. Residents are therefore advised to store a reasonable amount of water for essential needs while supply remains available and to use water sparingly.
