WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION UPDATE – BRITS WATER SCHEME (BRITS AND ENVIRONS, SONOP, OUKASIE, ELANDSRAND, DAMONSVILLE, MOTHOTLUNG, PARTS OF MMAKAU, GA-RANKOTEA, LETLHABILE, MABOLOKA) Madibeng Local Municipality wishes to inform residents in areas under the Brits Water Scheme (as mentioned above) that the Brits Water Treatment Plant is now fully operational following the planned shutdown. As previously communicated, Magalies Water undertook planned maintenance at the Brits Water Treatment Plant. However, the work took longer than anticipated due to unforeseen circumstances and additional work required on the Letlhabile pipeline. The pipeline had to be drained and replaced with a new pipeline, which will be connected to the new pumps. In addition, the linking of the two basins supplying Letlhabile and Mothotlung required grouting and sealing to prevent possible leaks. Sufficient time was required for the sealing work to dry properly before the system could be commissioned. WATER RESTORATION The process of filling the reservoirs has now begun. Water supply is anticipated to resume from Sunday morning, 16 August 2026. Residents are advised that water may return gradually, as the distribution system and reservoirs recover and pressure is restored. Madibeng Local Municipality apologizes for the inconvenience caused and sincerely appreciates residents' patience and understanding while this essential infrastructure work is completed. Residents are kindly requested to use water sparingly once supply resumes to assist with the recovery of the system. End.
