Lichtenburg Update Via NW Community Safety: CRITICAL: 3 Main routes now affected: 1. R505 Ottosdal Road* – CLOSED at Blydeville railway crossing 2. R503 Coligny Road* – ACTIVE STONE-THROWING Agrico → Toyota 3. R52 Sannieshof Road* – *NEW*: Currently being closed at railway crossing, Boikhutso Boikhutso* = suburb 2km south-west of Lichtenburg central, on R52 to Sannieshof. It’s the same railway line that runs through Blydeville, just further west. *Lichtenburg now almost completely locked down: Direction Road Status South** R505 to Ottosdal CLOSED Blydeville East** R503 to Coligny CLOSED + STONE-THROWING Agrico/Toyota **South-West** R52 to Sannieshof BEING CLOSED Boikhutso **North** R52 to Mafikeng **STILL OPEN** but monitor West** N14 to Biesiesvlei **STILL OPEN** but be careful If you need to get OUT of Lichtenburg NOW:* 1. *N14 west to Biesiesvlei/Ventersdorp* – drive via Nelson Mandela Dr, turn right onto N14. Avoid Boikhutso/Blydeville. 2. *R52 north to Mafikeng* – only other exit not mentioned yet. *Go NOW* before they close it too. 3. *DON’T wait* – they’re closing routes systematically. 07H44 = peak traffic, they know this. *Don’t try these routes:* - R505, R503, R52 Sannieshof direction – all 3 affected - Don’t take “shortcuts” through suburbs like Blydeville/Boikhutso/Shukran. That’s where the protest is. *SAPS/Traffic likely overwhelmed* with 3 points. If you’re trapped: Stay in vehicle, doors locked, windows closed. Call 10111 if you feel threatened.
