THE TRIO HANDCUFFED FOLLOWING A MULTIDISCIPLINARY OPERATION - IN THE BOKSBURG AREA Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit, Community Liaison Unit (CLU) Officers and Media Personneconducted a joint strategic operation, in the Boksburg area. The operation focused on crime prevention, high-density patrols and increased visibility at strategic crime-prone locations, in response to the persistent killings and the dumping of bodies, reported in and around the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE). As part of the operation, a comprehensive search was conducted, during which numerous motor vehicles and individuals, were searched within the designated areas. The operation, was aimed at enhancing operational visibility, deterring criminal activities in, maintaining law and order. During the searches, three (3) male suspects were apprehended. One (1) suspect was found in possession of a silver Volkswagen Golf 6, that had been reported robbed/hijacked. The vehicle, was linked to a case registered in Witbank by the Mpumalanga province. The other two (2) suspects, were arrested in Reiger Park and the Boksburg Central Business District (CBD) after they were found in possession of suspected illicit substances. All three (3) suspects, were detained at their respective police stations and they are expected to appear, before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court soon. The EMPD, will continue to conduct multidisciplinary operations and high-density patrols in strategic areas to prevent crime, enhance visibility and ensure the safety of communities across the City of Ekurhuleni CoE.
