Blairgowrie, Wednesday, 12 August 2026 – Quick-thinking Beagle Watch Response Officers apprehend a knife-wielding suspect. On Wednesday, our team apprehended a suspect who threatened a victim with a knife on Blairgowrie Drive, holding him until SAPS arrived to make the arrest. What happened: A Beagle Watch client alerted the Beagle Watch Call Centre after witnessing an altercation between two men, one of whom appeared to be armed with a knife. At the same time, a resident flagged down a patrolling Response Officer to report the same incident. Response Officers arrived on scene within a minute and located the victim fleeing from the suspect, who was armed with a large knife. The suspect fled into a nearby non-client property, where Response Officers tracked him down. The victim explained that the suspect had followed him, accused him of pursuing his girlfriend, and threatened him with the knife, possibly in an attempt to rob him of his cellphone. Although the suspect no longer had the weapon on him, Response Officers searched the area and recovered the knife concealed in nearby bushes. The suspect was detained by Beagle Watch Officers pending the arrival of SAPS, who took him into custody and transported him to Linden SAPS.
